A HISTORY OF GREAT SOUND - THE MODEL 55

The Shure microphone story begins as far back as the late 1930s with the introduction of the Model 55. Variations of the classic Shure Model 55 are still available today in the form of the Shure Super 55 Deluxe Microphone and the Shure 55SH-II Dynamic Microphone.

THE LEGENDARY SHURE SM58

Then, in 1966 we saw the introduction of the Shure SM58 which went on to be adopted by rock-and-roll musicians such as The Who and The Rolling Stones, who appreciate the unique combination of reliability and sound quality that comes in the rugged, tough construction of the SM58 microphone. The SM58 is still the most popular microphone in the world today.

Today there is a whole range of SM58 microphones available such as the standard Shure SM58, or the wireless SM58, then there’s the beautiful Shure SM58 50th Anniversary Edition.

THE WORLD'S ORIGINAL STUDIO MIC - THE SM57

In 1982, the best-selling album of all time; Michael Jackson’s Thriller was released with Michael’s vocals have been recorded using a Shure SM7. The Shure SM7 is still available today in the updated SM7B version… and if it’s good enough for Thriller that’s good enough for me!

BROADCAST APPROVED - THE SM7B

Whilst the SM58 and SM57 meets the needs of live sound engineers and studio musicians, Shure has also produced one of the best-selling broadcast microphones ever. The SM7B is highly regarded as one of the most transparent, reliable broadcast mics available today. If you want crisp, flat-response vocal performance, look no further than the SM7B.

If you watch any Podcast like the Joe Rogan Experience or Beats1 Radio, you'll find the SM7B delivering tried-and-tested clarity time and time again.

SHURE MOTIV - MICS FOR THE MODERN ERA

In the 1970s, Shure produced the world’s smallest dynamic lavalier microphone; the SM11. This design was recently revisited when Shure launched the Motiv series featuring the Shure Motiv MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone designed for mobile devices.

Fast forward to the 21st Century and Shure are still industry leaders in the field of sound technology and audio capture. The recent release of the Shure Motiv digital microphones saw digital integration and compatibility with mobile devices as we have never seen before. Microphones specifically designed as iOS microphones, allowing you to have Shure as your recording partner through iPhone microphone or iPad microphone. The Motiv Series microphones even have their own dedicated iOS app; ShurePlus Motiv.

Despite the modern capabilities of the Shure Motiv series, they have a great vintage look about them, particularly the grille on the Shure MV5 and Shure MV51 microphones; a true blast from the past but with innovative and modern features.
