Tailored Recording
While the Shure MV5 is a great choice for recording voices, it’s also a great option for recording music!
With its three onboard recording presets, the Motiv MV5 can be switched easily between Flat, Instrument and Voice modes.
Flat is suitable for all types of recording whereas Instrument is tailored to recording live music using transparent compression to smooth out volume spikes and equalisation to emphasise details to encourage a great natural sound.
Lastly there is the Voice mode which uses equalisation to reduce sibilance while emphasising clarity and fullness of speech and vocals and a slight compression to keep the levels consistent.
Connectivity
With the Motiv MV5, Shure have put a lot of thought into the options and connectivity of the microphone to cover all bases. Starting with Shure’s own free iOS app dedicated to the MOTIV series of microphones.
Just download the ShurePlus MOTIV app, connect the MV5 to your compatible iOS device using the handy Micro-B-to-LTG cable that’s included and you’ll be recording at 24 bit / 48kHz with tonnes of options including a limited, compressor and five band EQ.
The MV5 also comes with a Micro-B-to-USB cable so you can connect directly to your Mac or PC so you can record easily to whatever device you choose to work with.
Versatility and Portability
The Motiv MV5 also comes with a solid, anodised aluminium stand so you can place it securely on a desktop for when you’re recording in the home studio but if you want to take things on the road and record on-location then the MV5 can be mounted onto any standard 6.35mm camera tripod. There’s also an integrated headphone output so you can connect to the MV5 for real-time monitoring in the field.
