The Promark Shira Kashi Oak 707 Ed Shaughnessy Wood Tip Drum Sticks are the perfect stick for jazz, swing and big band drumming. Designed by Ed Shaughnessy, these sticks feature a longer taper for fast responsiveness and a large round bead tip for clear, bright sounds.
The Ultimate Big Band Drum Sticks
Ed Shaughnessy was a jazz and swing drummer best known for his long stint as drummer for Johnny Caron's The Tonight Show Band. Shaughnessy designed these sticks to meet all this jazz, swing and big band requirements. They feature a 5a-style .551" diameter but have a long taper to create a fast and responsive stick.
The large round bead wood tip helps to produce a clear, crisp bright sound perfect for the cymbal work typical of jazz and big band swing.
Manufactured in Texas, USA, these sticks are made from Shira Kashi Oak which is a dense, heavy wood that produces a sturdy feeling stick that is excellent for ride cymbal articulation.
Typically, Japanese Oak sticks are very durable and tend to last longer that other wood type sticks.
