Color Sound 900

The Paiste Colorsound 900 Series was first introduced as Colorsound 5 in 1984. The introduction and increase in popularity of music videos resulted in a need for musicians to express themselves visually as well as sonically. Paiste introduced the Color Sound series allowing musicians to do just that, by creating an impressive aesthetic without jeopardising the overall sound of the cymbals. The next incarnation of colour sound came in the form of the VISIONS series in the 1990s. Throughout this time Paiste have continued to use the colour coating process as a custom order option and in various artist models, an example of which is Stewart Copeland’s Blue Bell Ride.

Colorsound 900 is the latest incarnation in the colour cymbal range. Based on the cymbals in the standard 900 series, the Paiste colour sound cymbals have the same sound and function as the 900 series but have a slightly drier tone thanks to the finish. The colour coating of the Colorsound range works to slightly shorten the sustain which results in a more focused attack.
