The SPL IRON is a Mastering Compressor that boasts exceptional sonic flexibility and meets the high sound quality standards sought after by mastering engineers. It incorporates six rectifiers, an onboard passive EQ, and a sturdy build to deliver outstanding performance.

Underneath its surface, the IRON utilizes six distinct rectifier circuits, each based on different diodes, which exhibit varied transient characteristics. Switching between settings like germanium and silicon imparts different tonal flavours and unique response curves.

In addition to its dynamic stage, the IRON offers two EQ curve presets for adding subtle enhancements to any mix. The AirBass mode provides a 2dB boost to high and low frequencies, imparting a touch of sparkle, while the Tape Roll-Off mode engages high and low cuts reminiscent of tape machines, adding an extra layer of warmth to the track's response.

The IRON is equipped with mastering-optimized features that allow engineers to achieve pristine optical dynamics or rich, warm, and vintage compression tones. Its sonic capabilities truly set a benchmark in the music industry.

Introduced in late 2022, SPL's improved v2 model of the IRON includes balanced side-chain inserts with send and return ports, new side-chain EQ filter presets, and Wathen CryoTone tubes. The second version of the IRON retains an identical faceplate but can be identified by the barcode sticker on the rear of the rack.

Each channel in the IRON compressor incorporates a signal path with two twin-triode tubes, intentionally designed with different response curves. According to SPL, this unique configuration ensures high levels of transparency and musicality, preventing the music from sounding lifeless even at higher volume levels.

Similar to many of SPL's highly regarded products, the IRON operates at a proprietary 120V voltage, providing optimal headroom and an extremely low noise floor. When processing well-mixed tracks that require a volume boost during mastering, the IRON is the ultimate tool for increasing loudness while preserving dynamics.
