The Mark Thwaite Solo-II is an incredible guitar from Schecter, new for 2017, this Mark Thwaite signature guitar is sure to impress.

Mark Thwaite Signature Guitar

One of the most prolific session guitarists coming from England, Mark Thwaite, or MGT as he is affectionately known, has had an extremely diverse career in the music industry.

Having played with such diverse acts as Spear of Destiny, Peter Murphy, Alanis Morissette, P.J. Harvey and Ville Valo, it’s important for Mark Thwaite to be able to deliver a range of different sounds while retaining the unmistakeable MGT style.

To overcome this exciting challenge, Schecter have designed the Mark Thwaite signature guitar; the Mark Thwaite Solo-II.

New Take on the Schecter Solo-II

Schecter started designing the Mark Thwaite signature using the Solo-II as its basis. Featuring a single cutaway design, the Solo-II has an awesome classic look while allowing easy reach of the higher frets which is essential for performing demanding solos and other adventurous lead guitar playing.

The arched top body is made of Mahogany and is very similar to the Gibson Les Paul in its design. The set-neck construction sees the attachment of a 3-pc Mahogany neck which has been fortified with carbon fibre reinforcement rods resulting in an ultra-secure build.

The thin ‘C’ shape of the neck means it is comfortable and easy to play. The fretboard is a classic Rosewood and features Mother of Pearl block inlays and aged creme multi-ply binding.

Professional Grade Hardware

Playing with some of the biggest names in the music industry, it’s important for Mark Thwaite to play an instrument that he can always rely on.

To this end, Schecter have installed a number of high-end hardware features to ensure full confidence when the show begins.

Schecter locking tuners have been used for quick, precise and stable tuning allowing you to bend to your heart’s desire without worrying about the strings going out of tune.

For great control over your sound and adding in that all-important tremolo effect, the Mark Thwaite Solo-II comes equipped a Bigsby Archtop B70. Allowing those awesome tremolo effects that only a genuine Bigsby can provide, this bit of hardware adds an extra layer of visual flair to this awesome guitar.

At the top of the neck, you’ll find Schecter have installed a Graph Tech XL Ivory TUSQ nut. TUSQ is a marvellous material that is precision engineered under high heat and pressure to enhance the frequencies that remain in the guitar strings, resulting in fantastic sustain. It is also permanently lubricated so you don’t have to worry about future touch ups.

Awesome Electronics

To get the range of sounds that Mark Thwaite is famous for, Schecter have installed two great Seymour Duncan pickups.

In the neck position is a Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro APG-1N humbucker. Combining the soft treble attack and the low string pull of Alnico 2 with a vintage output coil wind, the Alnico Pro II neck pickup gives you a brilliant old-school sound that is perfect for blues and rock.

In the bridge position you will find a JB SH-4. Hand built by Seymour Duncan engineers in California, the JB model pickup utilises an Alnico 5 bar magnet and delivers incredible tone. Perfect for everything from blues and country all the way up to grunge, hard rock and thrash. The low end is full and powerful while the highs are crisp and clear and the mids are delivering a great, crunchy punch.

Great Sound, Matching Looks

Playing alongside some of music’s biggest names you know you’ve got to look good when you’re on stage.

An awesome ‘Ultra Violet’ finish gives the Mark Thwaite Solo-II a seriously unique look. Depending on the lighting and angle, the visuals of this guitar can be completely different. An awesome-visual flair that is almost as chameleon-like as Mark Thwaite’s musical career.

The hardware is gold-coloured which adds a touch of class and looks brilliant against the ultra violet colouring of the Mark Thwaite signature guitar.

With a career like Mark Thwaite’s you never know who he’s going to be playing with next so a range of options, sounds and a high level of playability are essential. The Schecter Mark Thwaite Solo-II delivers on all fronts.
