Based on the amp used by Eddie Van Halen himself, we have here the EVH 5150III 15W LBX amp head. Nicely portable but very powerful, the EVH 5150 III gives you a lot of sound and a lot of control.
“Lunchbox” Style Valve Amp Head
15 Watts of All-Valve Power
Despite its small size and “lunchbox” style, the EVH 5150III amp head is packing some serious power inside its rugged all-steel chassis.
Giving the EVH 5150III its awesome valve sound are five JJ ECC832 preamp tubes and two JJ EL84 Matched Duet power tubes giving this “small” amp the power to perform like a true arena-filling amp.
An all-valve effects loop maintains your signal integrity and full valve sound whatever your setup is with this amp.
On the rear of the amp head you’ll find a power level switch allowing you take 5150III down to a ¼ power setting so you can keep your full valve amp sound but take it down to a more manageable level for home play and practise.
Full Tonal Control
On the front panel of the EVH 5150III you’ll find a whole host of options to give you full control over your tone.
Chicken-head style pointer knobs provide easy use of a three band EQ allows you to adjust the low, mid and high frequencies individually while a presence control gives you the power to add some serious body to your tone while shaping it all to meet your demands.
On the rear of the amp head is a resonance knob that allows adjustment of the amp’s low-frequency response so you can pump out some well-crafted bottom end force.
Two Channels for Crunch and Full Burn
You also have your pick of two channels; the famous blue channel for crunch and red “full burn” channel to deliver some searing distortion.
The blue crunch channel is perfect for rhythm work, then when it’s time deliver a roaring solo just flick over to the full burn red channel.
Portable and Lightweight
Making it perfect for taking on the road; the EVH 5150 III amplifier head has a rugged all steel chassis and top cover that’ll withstand all the rigours of heavy touring.
A large, comfortable vinyl handle with metal insert allows for easy pick up and carrying of this lunchbox style valve amp head and weighing in at only 15lbs you’ll have no problems carrying it around.
Giving you full, authentic valve amp performance in a small lunchbox size amp with full tone control, the EVH 5150III LBX amp head does not disappoint.
