A Classic, Re-Designed For The Better!
Despite being a favourite amongst bass players for more than four decades, Music Man decided it was time to make some changes to the StingRay.
However, for those traditionalists out there who may be opposed to these changes, I will only say this: just wait until you play one, you won't regret it.
New Lightweight Design
As part of the transition from StingRay to StingRay Special, Music Man have made a number of improvements upon the original design.
The first thing you'll notice when you pick it up is that it's incredibly lightweight - only 3.6kg! This is thanks to the slimmer-contoured Ash body, and Aluminium hardware, resulting in a more comfortable playing experience.
In addition to those physical changes, there's also a brand new pickup design to sink your teeth into.
Powerful New Pickup
In place of the more traditional Alnico magnets, the humbucker on the StingRay Special comes equipped with Neodymium magnets. This particular metal has a much stronger magnetic pull than Alnico, resulting in a more articulate sound when you play.
Complimenting this newly designed pickup is a powerful 18v preamp, as opposed to the more traditional 9v offering. Doubling up the power gives you plenty more headroom to play around in, allowing you to shape your perfect tone with ease.
