The Martin D Jr. 2 is an excellent acoustic guitar, comes in at a much smaller size than your standard D guitar so it's perfect for smaller players or anyone that would prefer or be more comfortable with a smaller sized guitar.
Quality Martin Craftsmanship
The body of the Martin D Junior is a Dreadnought style but being from Martin's Junior series it is much smaller than what you can expect from a standard dreadnought guitar.
Sapele has been used as the resonating top of D Jr., with Sapele being an increasingly popular tone wood for acoustic guitars. It has a nice, straight and uniform grain with great longevity and strength making it a fantastic top for the Martin D Jr. guitar.
Sapele has also been used to craft the back and sides. Similar in both tone and appearance to mahogany, Sapele delivers great midrange which packs a nice punch and nice, bright trebles.
For the bracing, Martin has applied standard “X" scalloped bracing that has been crafted from Sitka Spruce to match the top enhancing the resonance. The scalloping process reduces the mass of the bracing allowing for the top to vibrate freely while still keeping it secure.
High Performance Neck
Joining the body through a sturdy mortise & tenon joint is the neck. This hardwood neck is made extremely playable by its High Performance taper, or Performing Artist taper as it used to be known. The use of this special taper makes for an enhanced playing experience and more comfortable feel.
Pioneering responsible and eco-friendly guitar crafting, aboard this neck Martin have appointed an FSC Certified Richlite fretboard. Richlite is incredibly environmentally and is made from recycled materials which produces an extremely durable fretboard.
This fretboard has also undergone the coveted Plek fret dressing treatment. The Plek Pro is an incredible, high-tech tool that has been developed for guitar production factories. The result of Plek Pro treatment is a fantastic fret dressing that significantly improves the playability of the Martin D Junior.
Martin have applied a number of premium touches to the D Jr. to ensure that you're getting a quality acoustic guitar as befitting the long lineage of Martin guitars.
To start, the neck has been hand rubbed to deliver an incredible finish and playing experience while the bridge matches the fretboard in that it has been made from FSC Certified Richlite.
Keeping stable and precise intonation while offering optimum transfer of string vibration into the body is a compensated TUSQ saddle.
TUSQ is a brilliant material, further offering fantastic resonance transfer with similar traits to traditional bone and actual tusk but is much more tonally uniform as it does not have the natural grain of bone and tusk.
Small Dreadnought Guitar
Being a Junior dreadnought you get a similar low end response to what you can expect from a full size dreadnought guitar but in a much more manageable package which is ideal for smaller or younger people or anyone that would prefer a smaller sized guitar but doesn't want to compromise on the low tones you get from a dreadnought guitar.
Also lending itself well to travelling, the Martin D Jr. comes with a form-fitted nylon gig bag which makes it even easier to take with you on any adventure where your guitar is a must.
Affordably priced but without compromising on the quality and tone that Martin have delivered for over 180 years, the Martin D Jr. is a fantastic guitar.
