The Korg Opsix Module is a versatile and powerful digital synthesizer module that offers advanced sound design capabilities. It's known for its flexible approach to FM synthesis, allowing users to create a wide range of sounds from traditional FM tones to complex, evolving textures.

The Opsix Module is fully compatible with the sounds of the Opsix, Opsix MK II, Opsix SE and Opsix native software. The module also supports MIDI 2.0 property exchange and poly aftertouch.

Rack-Mount and Desktop

Designed for both desktop and rack-mount use, the panel has been redesigned to fit into a standard 19" width and the rear jack panel is recessed to allow easy access with gear racked directly above. Brackets offer a choice of angles for desktop setups, flat for performing standing up, or angled upright for a seated position.

A Full Spectrum Sound Experience

The Opsix goes beyond traditional FM synthesis by offering six operator sound engines that can be configured in multiple ways. Based on the sound engine of the original Opsix, the number of simultaneous voices and voicing can be expanded to a massive 64 voices.

Evolved to an Astounding 64 Voices

The Opsix module boasts 64 voices, doubling the original's 32, enabling users to engage in tone editing without concerns about the number of simultaneous voices. Furthermore, the operator-mixer section, the product's most distinctive feature, now sports an eye-catching new green color.

Get illuminated with the Operator Mixer

Central to every sound in the Opsix module is the Operator Mixer, featuring a straightforward arrangement of six faders and knobs that encourage experimentation. Each component illuminates red to indicate carriers and blue for modulators. Adjusting these elements unlocks new sound-shaping possibilities, revitalizing your musical ideas. This intuitive, hands-on approach is a key aspect of what makes the Opsix module distinctive, much like the unique sounds it produces.

Direct Hands-On Control

The intuitively designed front panel features six data encoders that give you quick access to parameters and smoothly sync up with the large OLED display. Coupled with the mixer, it makes creating new and unique sounds both fast and enjoyable.

Choose from a wide variety of analog-style filters, including the legendary, screaming Korg MS-20 low-pass/high-pass filter and the powerful yet smooth KORG Polysix low-pass filter, which adds a vintage touch to your sound. Additionally, you can select two or four-pole low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, and band-reject filters with resonance.

Korg have also included a built in spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope, giving you visual feedback and then music you are creating.

Six in One Synthesis

Since waveforms can be arranged and modulated in nearly infinite ways, The Opsix module can easily do the sonic work that is similar to numerous types of synthesis

  • Subtractive - Removing parts of the sound retaining what is desired.
  • Semi-Modular - Reroute the signal without the need of a patch cable to change the sound.
  • Analog Modeling - Enjoy analog style controls giving you deep basses, crisp leads and thick pad sounds.
  • Waveshaping - Adding distortion to the waveforms to achieve gritty, screaming tones.
  • Additive - Combining waveforms and harmonizing their overtones creating a wide spectrum of harmonious, dissonant, and tension-filled sounds. With six operators at your disposal, you can fully explore FM synthesis, including recreating iconic sounds from recording history.
  • Classic FM - Delivering the instantly recognisable 80's signature sounds, is the true six-Operator FM architecture.

Altered Reality

The Opsix module is based on FM synthesis, but the resemblance to the classic synthesis stops there. Its Altered FM architecture produces an extensive range of sounds, surpassing the capabilities of any previous synthesis. This is made possible by incorporating new sound components, waveforms, filters, shaping techniques, effects, LFOs, envelopes, modulations, and more, resulting in a diverse array of sounds.

Powerful Effects processing

The Opsix module offers three blocks of 30 types of high-definition effects, which can be used in combination to further enhance your sounds. This selection includes a range of practical standard effects such as chorus, phaser, delay, and compressor, as well as world-class shimmering reverbs that will elevate your sound to the next level.

Polyphonic Motion Sequencing

The Opsix module features an incredible sequencer, you can record up to six notes per step and edit each note's velocity, gate time, and playback timing. Featuring an atypical 16 step sequencer, create long phrases or emulate drum rolls with subtle shifts in timing.

Monster Modulation Matrix

With 6 operator modes and 40 preset algorithms, and with the ability to create your own, the modulation possibilities are genuinely mind-blowing.

Randomize Feature for all Parameters

Press the button marked with the die icon to completely scramble the parameters, generating a new, unique sound.
