Inspired by Steve Vai's favourite axe, the latest addition to the Ibanez JEM series sees this gorgeous 'Woody' design really stand out from the crowd. With a low-gloss Charcoal Brown finish and burl wood pickguard, it's a true thing of beauty.
Steve Vai Signature with a tonewood twist
30 Years ago, the first Ibanez Steve Vai JEM Signature model was released, and offered a radical new take on a saturated Electric Guitar market.
Today, the JEM has evolved into its latest edition - the JEM77WDP and could arguably be it's best yet. Instead of the usual Basswood body in previous JEM models, the JEM77WDP features a mahogany body with Rosewood top. The mahogany injects a warm, sustaining tone to the guitar and adds a bit more cut on the top end.
An elegant 'Tree of Life' vine Inlay adds to the aesthetic appeal - a really nice touch. Let's not forget his signature 'Monkey Grip' - strike a chord and hold on for dear life!
Powerful Pickups
The latest incarnation of the DiMarzio Dark Matter 2 humbucker has been specifically EQed to match the earthy, organic aura of the new guitar. High output pickups can sometimes have anomalies in the high register, meaning they have some sharp edges.
While they’re definitely high output like Steve’s other pickups, the new Dark Matter 2 pickups are engineered with a slight softness on the top end.
