Play Music Today is committed to monitoring the impact of our business on the communities that we exist in, and upon the wider world. With over 30 years of experience as a musical instrument retailer, we know how the power of music can elevate and inspire people.

We are proud to support causes that are close to our heart, and we strive to consider the social and environmental influence of how we operate.

As part of our latest CSR initiative, we are proud to announce our partnership with Future Yard as part of their FUTURE50 campaign.

Future Yard is a community music venue in the heart of Birkenhead, using music as a catalyst for change by providing transformative opportunities and pathways into the live music industry for local people.

You can read more about Future Yard’s work and roadmap to sustainability here.

With our Head Office based in Merseyside, the Future Yard mission is one that we're delighted to be a part of.

Through their work within the Birkenhead community, Future Yard has identified four key barriers to access when it comes to music: cost, awareness, perception, and programming.

As part of our pledge, PMT will directly support the Future Yard Neighbourhood Fund, and in turn help to:

  • Provide free tickets for families in the local neighbourhood, removing cost as a barrier to attending
  • Offer free-to-access training programmes for young people, enabling them to begin their careers in the music industry
  • Deliver industry-leading mentorship, studio access and workshops for local emerging talent through Propeller
  • Present programming designed by the community, for the community

Find out more about PMT's social projects below, including our Ferndale Guitars x JUST ONE Tree partnership.

Ferndale takes its name and inspiration from the lost forests of the north California town where the ‘tonewoods’ grow.

Trees clean the air we breathe, filter our water, create sustainable incomes and much more. That’s why Ferndale Guitars is proud to partner with JUST ONE Tree and pledges to plant at least one tree for every guitar sold.

We have just one planet – together let’s restore it, one guitar at a time.

December 2023 update:

"Play Music Today's forest now stands at 5409 trees. But more than just a number, your forest creates rural employment, gives homes to wildlife and marine life AND will absorb approximately 1665.97 tonnes of CO2 as it grows." JUST ONE Tree team.
