Yamaha started out as a piano manufacturer and to this day creates some of the finest uprights and concert grands. Their skill with traditional acoustic instruments as well and matched by their ability to innovate and create new forms of expression. However, they also offer a wide range of other instruments to meet the needs of musicians of all ages and skill levels.

Yamaha PA & Live Sound

This technological drive has also led to Yamaha being respected in the live sound market, manufacturing quality PA and groundbreaking digital mixers of which the TF series are the latest. The Yamaha DXR and DXS Series are quickly becoming the go-to Active PA of choice for countless live sound engineers, performers and entertainers. Their price-to-power and reliability competes alongside other industry standard brand names in the world of Live Sound and PA.

Yamaha Studio Monitors

In the studio their perfectionist streak led to the development of the NS10, perhaps the most widely-used passive speakers in professional studios today. You can find their DNA in the latest HS range of Active nearfield studio monitor speakers, like the HS5, HS7 and HS8, available with or without a subwoofer.

Yamaha Keyboards and Pianos

Struggling with where to buy a Yamaha Keyboard or Digital Piano? Look no further than your local PMT UK Store.

The Yamaha PSR Series are a great entry-level keyboard very popular with schools, colleges and music institutions for any beginners learning to play. Many of the more compact, affordable Yamaha Digital Pianos, like the P-45 and P-32, feature weighted hammer action keys for authentic piano-like response.

Their FM synthesizers changed the face of pop music in the 1980's and the latest Reface synthesisers capture those pioneering sounds in a range of compact keyboard synths. While taking a browse in our Pulse shops, be sure to check out the Yamaha Montage synthesizers. With some of Yamaha's most forward-thinking technology and synth engines under the hood, these powerful synths can be the focal point of your studio set up.

Yamaha Electric Guitars

It doesn't stop with high tech, Yamaha turned to electric guitar and bass design in a big way in the 90's with the Pacifica range. In a reaction to the tidal wave of low-grade, copy cat guitars the Pacificas offered a great choice for a low price. The series has gone from strength to strength and still represents one of the best value for money options for beginners.

Yamaha Acoustic Guitars

Yamaha's impressive line-up of Acoustic Guitars start aimed at beginners and smaller, travel-sized instruments like the F Series and APXT models. If you want an affordable, lightweight and high quality guitar under £200, the Yamaha F310 is a great choice for guitarists of all skill levels. The Yamaha FG700 series contains a great line-up of acoustic guitars for under £500. The full-size, mid-range FG and APX series guitars represent superb value and have become best-sellers at our stores around the country. For the perfect merge of analogue and digital technology, check out the Yamaha THR Series amplifiers that offer great tube/valve tone in a compact, lightweight package.

Yamaha Drums

Offering a wide range of sound options from acoustic kits for studio and live situations to electronic drum kits for easy home recording, practice and gigging, Yamaha have a drum sound for everyone. No matter what your skill level, experience, ability or budget, Yamaha have an option to the suit the needs of all percussionists.

Yamaha Acoustic Drum Kits

Kicking things off way back in 1967, Yamaha produced their first drum kits in the form of the Yamaha D20 and D30 models using their innovative Air Seal System Technique which is still used today.

1976 saw the introduction of the System Drum Concept which brought about a unification of drum mounting hardware, allowing all drums and hardware from any series to be mixed and combined to suit the needs of the drummer. It was during this year that Yamaha introduced the innovative hide-away boom stand; an industry first that is still a main feature of hardware lines of all brands today.

In 1977 Yamaha released the legendary YD9000 Recording Custom. Made from 100% birch this drum kit featured one-piece lugs and a gorgeous spray finish. The kit was made popular by the likes of Steve Gadd and Cozy Powell. It became the most recorded drum set in history.

Next followed the Yamaha Maple Custom in 1991. This kit saw the introduction of small lightweight lugs to prevent dampening of the shell and the YES mount (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) designed to offer organic shell resonance.

The brilliantly popular and incredible sounding Yamaha Stage Custom was released in 1996. Delivering superbly top-end tone at an extremely affordable price. Utilising the same birch used in the much more expensive recording custom series, one-piece lugs and beautiful spray finishes, this kit quickly became the go-to for new drummers and the budget conscious player.

The Yamaha Maple Absolute appeared in 1998 with a desire to achieve the richest possible shell resonance at the centre of its design. Then in 2002, the Yamaha Oak Custom released offering an impressive response and huge bass tone. The Yamaha PHX followed in 2008 featuring a hybrid shell construction.

Inspired by vintage kits, the Yamaha Club Custom was unveiled in 2011 and seamlessly combined the warm tone and controlled sustain of vintage kits with the advantages of modern manufacturing, for a kit with great consistency and better projection.

Building upon the Oak Custom series, Yamaha introduced the Live Custom series in 2013. Consisting of shells of 1.2mm Oak, the drums of this kit were 10% thicker than those used on the Oak Custom series. The result was a drum kit with greater strength and depth with a rich, expressive power ideal for live performance.

The Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple appeared in 2014, utilising the hybrid shell technology found on the Yamaha PHX range. Constructed using Wenge wood sandwiched between Maple, this kit delivered a superbly clear tone and a full dynamic range.

Revisiting and reinventing a past classic, Yamaha released the new Recording Custom in 2016. Working with the drumming legend Steve Gadd, the Yamaha Recording Custom features new design elements, a refined focused and an enhanced more rounded, deeper tone. The result is a drum kit that’s easy to use and easy to tune to provide an amazingly versatile sound, suitable for all styles and playing situations.

Yamaha Electronic Drum Kits

The Yamaha DTX drum series represents some of Yamaha’s most forward-thinking musical ideas. Created to capture an expressive playing feel, realistic sounds and a compact easy to use design, Yamaha DTX electronic drum kits are the ideal options for the drummer on the go, quiet practice or easy drum recording.

Perfect for the beginner drummer, the Yamaha DTX402K offers a compact rack design for easy storage and space saving set up. Packed with over 200 drum sounds and realistic, naturally responding drum pads this is a superb option for the new drummer. Forget about the noise complaints, simply throw on your headphones and delve into your own world of drumming expression.

Part of the DTX502 series, the Yamaha DTX562K drum kit, offers a set up from the entry level kit. Featuring choke function cymbals, brilliantly responsive, natural feeling pads and a wide range of expressive sounds, this is an awesome electronic kit at a great price.

Next up the ladder is the DTX700 series, featuring the Yamaha DTX720K and the DTX760K electronic drum kits. Both feature acoustic kit style features including a real hi-hat stand for a realistic, responsive playing feeling, an intuitive sound module with user-friendly interface and 3 zone snare pads. However, the DTX760 features a bigger 10 piece set up with slightly larger toms for improved playing feel.

The flagship of the Yamaha DTX series is the Yamaha DTX920K Electronic Drum Kit. This top of the range model delivers a truly professional set up. Packed with 50 preset kits, the number of kits can easily be expanded using the external USB storage device up to over 1500 kits! Featuring training functions to improve your playing, superb connectivity, a brilliantly realistic playing feel and natural expressive setup, this drum kit was made for the serious drummer.

Yamaha also offer a variety of products that allow you to incorporate electronic drum elements into your acoustic kit playing. For example, the Yamaha EAD10 is an innovative device that allows you to quickly and easily transform your acoustic kit into a powerful electronic hybrid. Or add the Yamaha DTX M12 Multipad to your acoustic kit for instant access to thousands of sounds via the 12 trigger pad.

Yamaha Amplifiers

Yamaha have a solid line-up of small to large combo amps to offer, whatever size you select Yamaha’s world class quality will ensure you get the unmistakable sound & tone quality Yamaha offers. If you’re looking for a versatile and modern amp a good starting point would be the Yamaha THR10 which offers a multitude of tones for music ranging from rock, to jazz or metal. If you prefer playing the blues the Yamaha THR10C is right up your street, offering a more vintage and mellow tone, perfect for those classic rock moods.
