Gibson SG

THE ORIGINAL 'SOLID GUITAR'

Back in 1960, the Gibson Les Paul wasn’t performing to expectations in the sales department so Gibson decide to give it a revamp.

Gibson took the Les Paul, gave it a thinner, flat-topped, contoured mahogany body, added a second cutaway, and moved the neck joint up by three frets.

The double-cutaway design and relocated neck joint meant that the Gibson SG provided easier access to the higher frets.
