What's a Baritone?

The Alvarez ABT60 fits into the Baritone category, which means it's tuned from B to B (as opposed to the more traditional E to E), and is pitched somewhere between an Acoustic Bass and a Traditional Dreadnought.

This guitar is played like a traditional model, using the same chord shapes and scale patterns, but delivers everything in a lower pitch than you're used to. The result is a beautifully unique-sounding instrument that adds extra layers to your song's texture.

Spruce and Mahogany Tonewoods

When pairing a solid Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, the tonal outcome is exquisite. Whilst the Spruce provides the guitar with a bright and well-projected voice, the Mahogany produces a tone that's both vibrant and rich in harmonic overtones, making the guitar suitable for a wide range of musical genres, from Folk to Blues to Country and beyond.
