With an 8 inch diameter and a 3-zone construction, this single electronic pad can be used effectively as both a snare and a tom on all Yamaha DTX kits..
Utilzing Yamaha's Textured Cellular Silicone (TCS) material for the playing surface, numerous air bubbles assist in imitating the feel and response of a real coated head, as well as helping to minimise performance stick sound for a quieter practice.
Complete with a floating playing surface, not only is pad sensitivity improved but you can clearly articulate accents from ff to pp and even deliver detailed ghost notes – all essential requirements for the professional drummer.
Pad Playability/Feel
These drums feel fantastic due to their TCS (texture cellular silicone) technology where the very clever people in the Yamaha drum lab have developed two different feeling surfaceone for toms and one for snares, to do so they adjusted the size and concentration of the bubbles in each pad creating a perfect playing surface that feels incredible, unlike the mesh or regular rubber heads that have a ton of rebound.
The DTX have a more 'real-feel' to them, the pad has three different zones and supports open rimshots and closed rimshots as well as being able to asign different sounds to those zones. As well as feeling great they are super quiet so for example playing at home while the family are sleeping is quite easily achievable.
