Steeped in History
Drawing inspiration from Yamaha's 50 year guitar-building heritage and customised Cafe Racer motorbikes from the streets of 1960s London, the Revstar design team created a guitar which perfectly captures the essence of Japanese engineering and craftsmanship.

From day one, guitarists from around the globe have worked with Yamaha's engineers and designers to make sure Revstar is built from the player's perspective.
Custom Wound Humbuckers
The YGD VH3 humbuckers in the Yamaha Revstar RS420 are of a custom-wound design, with Alnico V magnets and silver plate pickup shields. These pickups put out a warm, versatile and impactful vintage tone with plenty of character, that can be shaped even further with the Dry switch.
Whether you want to play clean, or with lots of overdrive, these pickups retain plenty of articulation and really let your playing do the talking.
The Dry Switch
Designed by Yamaha for their Revstar series, this "Dry Switch" is activated via the Push/Pull function on your Master Tone control pot. When activated, this passive circuit filters out your guitar's low frequencies, giving you the punch and clarity of a single coil pickup - but without any of that annoying 60 cycle hum!
