The shells are made from carefully selected maple with the bearing edge and shell moulding receiving intent focus.

For the first time in this price range, these shells come equipped with the same zinc die-cast hoops you find on Starclassic drums.
Not only do these die-cast hoops make tuning easier and more consistent, you'll also find they give you extremely powerful rim shots along with crisp attack and clearer, more resonant highs.
Premium Hardware
Designed specifically for the Superstar range, Sound Bridge high-tension, low-mass lugs are fitted to this 4-piece shell pack.
While the structure bears resemblance to standard high-tension lugs, the body of these lugs "float" over the shell. This minimises contact with the shell allowing the drum to fully resonate.
Despite this minimised contact, Sound Bridge lugs retain all the benefits you get from more traditional high-tension lugs. This means the tension of the batter side and resonant side of the heads is offset, stress on the shell is reduced and the drum shell is better protected during transport.
Claw hooks are used to stabilise the wood hoops on the bass drum. Featuring an integrated rubber lining, these claw hooks further protect the wood while maintaining tuning stability - even during longer performances.
The new rubber spacers also help protect the die-cast zinc claw hooks and tension bolts from getting damaged when the bass drum is on the ground.
Adding to their premium appearance, all hardware on these Tama Superstar Hyper-Drive maple shells feature a beautiful black nickel plating.
Hyper-Drive Toms
The new standard depth for rack toms, these Hyper-Drive tom toms feature a shorter depth which gives you enhanced attack, quick response and punchy sound.
What's more, since these toms are shallower you can set them up in a lower position, giving you even more placement flexibility.
