Made with 100% spruce shells and boasting a wide tuning range, the Tama SLP Fat Spruce drum kit is very versatile.
You can tune these shells high for genres such as jazz or tune them to low or medium tensions for other styles such as blues, rock and more.

All Spruce Shells
All of the shells within the Tama S.L.P. Fat Spruce drum kit are made with 100% shell with the toms being 6ply, 5mm while the bass drum is 8ply, 7mm.
As a result, you get unique fat and resonant tone from these shells with strong mids and natural characteristics.
Zinc die-cast hoops can be found on the Tama SLP Fat Spruce shells. Made by injecting molten metal into moulds, these die-cast hoops boast higher density and more consistency in shape than traditional triple flanged hoops which are made by bending metal plates.
As a result, tuning is easier and more consistent and you will enjoy crisper attack, clear and resonant highs and seriously powerful rim shots.
Direct Flexi-Mount for Smooth, Transparent Sound
Featuring a two-piece structure, the Direct-Flexi Mount on board the Tama SLP Studio Maple drum kit has a plate mounted to the shell along with another piece that takes the L-Rod of a tom stand.
These parts are hinged together with a steel shaft which gives you some horizontal play when you strike the drum.
Because of this small movement, the vibration of the shell is kept under control while still allowing it to resonate more freely than more traditional direct-to-shell mounts.
With this great control of vibration while keeping the shell moving, you getter smoother, more transparent sound which draws out the natural characteristics of the spruce shells.
