Measuring up at 14" x 7" the Tama G-Maple Snare, the G-Maple is a concept built on the foundation of a thicker 12-ply/10mm shell aiding towards warmer rich tones being an all Maple shell, coupled with 42 strand snare wires and die-cast hoops this snare produces not only punchy low-end uppercuts and warm tones but when tuned to either medium or a higher tuning, gives you a mix between a double barrel and a 9mm desert storm gunshot sounding rim shot, the cross stick is defined as ever and very wooden clave sound any percussionist would be proud of. 14" x 7" is lovely in between especially the depth being between 6.5" and 8" you get the best of both worlds and we are hoping that brands are catching onto this depth and start producing more drums of this dimension. while the brass tube lugs add a lot of character to the drum visuals it's the absolutely resplendent zebrawood grain that makes this drum stand out, with a faultless finish you will keep this clean on the daily to keep this finish box fresh. Other hardware on the snare is brilliant, the snare but plate has a slight angle which seems to keep the snare wire tension where it's set and nicely centered, throw is super smooth and doesn't stick out when the throw is in its off position. This snare is produced in the China factory along with all the other higher-end Tama drums and you can honestly tell that's the case with the attention to detail.
