While mixing on speakers remains the preferred method in most studios worldwide to ensure optimal playback compatibility across various consumer systems, headphones possess a distinct sound projection system due to their straightforward driver configuration.

SPL addresses this challenge with their in-house creation, the "Phonitor Matrix," which faithfully replicates the 30-degree angle of crossfade typically observed with speakers. This unique technology enables headphones to deliver a truly immersive, speaker-like performance. As a result, playback on headphones closely aligns with the original artistic vision of studio engineers during the mixing and mastering process, offering listeners an experience closer to the intended musical material.

Furthermore, the Phonitor se incorporates a built-in 'Crossfeed' feature that adjusts the level of crosstalk or 'inter-aural level' between the left and right channels. The intensity of the crossfeed can be easily selected by switching between positions C1 and C2 on the front panel.
