While mixing on speakers remains the preferred method in most studios worldwide for optimal playback compatibility across various consumer systems, headphones offer a unique sound projection system due to their straightforward driver configuration.
SPL addresses this challenge with their proprietary "Phonitor Matrix," faithfully reproducing the 30-degree crossfade angle typically experienced with speakers. This innovative technology enables headphones to deliver an immersive, speaker-like performance. As a result, listening through headphones closely aligns with the original artistic vision of studio engineers during the mixing and mastering process, providing a more authentic and faithful representation of the musical material.
Moreover, the Phonitor se features a built-in 'Crossfeed' function, allowing precise adjustment of the inter-aural level or crosstalk between the left and right channels. Switching between positions C1 and C2 on the front panel enables easy selection of the desired crossfeed intensity.
With a sleek and efficient design, the Phonitor se focuses on providing monitoring accuracy without unnecessary complexity. Analog inputs are handled through two gold-plated RCA connectors, while digital connectivity options, such as USB, coaxial, and optical, are available with the optional DAC768xs module from SPL.
Crafted in Germany, the Phonitor se boasts a powerful amplifier stage with generous headroom to accommodate even the most demanding electrostatic headphones.
