In its second generation, the GoldMike Mk2 emerges as a dual-channel microphone and instrument preamplifier that skillfully blends tube and transistor technology, offering a multitude of tonal options and distinctive character.

The GoldMike Mk2 combines the efficiency of low-noise discrete transistor amplification with the musicality, colouration, and warmth provided by a dedicated tube stage. This exceptional preamp unit successfully encompasses both ends of the tonal spectrum, delivering remarkable versatility.

To meet SPL's uncompromising standards, the GoldMike Mk2's unique transistor stage avoids the use of integrated circuits. Instead, it embraces a Class A design comprising a single transistor and fully discrete circuitry. This approach ensures an astonishing dynamic range and clarity that surpasses expectations for a preamp in its price range.

Simultaneously, the tube stage of the GoldMike Mk2 presents three independent amplification levels: +6 dB, +12 dB, and +18 dB. This feature allows for a broad range of saturation levels and the ability to introduce limiting effects to the signal.

Integrating another remarkable technology from SPL, the GoldMike Mk2 incorporates Flair. Powered by harmonical behaviour from the preamp's internal coils, the Flair control acts as a presence filter, offering the flexibility to adjust the prominence of the recording element within any mix.

Furthermore, SPL has thoughtfully included a pre-output stage Peak/FET limiter in the GoldMike Mk2, adding an extra layer of compression. This feature can be utilized to enhance the punchiness of a source or to prevent clipping before the signal reaches the AD conversion stage, providing both creative and functional benefits.
