The Crossover by SPL is an exceptional analog component used for splitting audio signals into different frequency ranges. It offers real-time control, generous headroom, and compatibility with various studio monitors and speaker systems.

Unlike many 2.1 sound systems that handle crossovers digitally, which involves extensive signal manipulation through processes like DSP, AD, and DA conversion, the Crossover maintains the signal in the analog domain. This preserves the natural timbre of the original sound as it travels to the studio mains or hi-fi loudspeakers.

The Crossover provides an excellent alternative for point-two systems that utilize dual subwoofers for left and right channels. It includes a stereo switch that allows instant switching between single or dual channel subwoofer mixes. In stereo mode, the sub signal is mixed to channels one and two, whereas when the setting is disabled, the system combines the signal into an L/R sum.

The frequency range of the Crossover is divided into two primary sections: LOW and MID-HI. The crossover frequencies for each section can be adjusted using stepped 6-way potentiometers, ranging from 60Hz to 120Hz.

Additionally, independent low pass and mid-Hi pass filters are available with steep controls of 24dB and 12/24dB per octave respectively. By setting both controls to 24dB, a classic Linkwitz/Riley configuration can be achieved.

The Crossover also features a fully variable phase control, allowing precise alignment of subs with tops or main speakers. The phase control offers a complete 360-degree phase circle capability through a single knob.

When precise phase control is not required, the feature can be bypassed to remove the component from the signal path entirely, ensuring the shortest possible signal flow.
