Crafting of An Axe
The RavenDark V FR Abbath Signature guitar has a body that has been carved from Mahogany into the deadly V style to Abbath Doom Occulta’s requirements. It has a flat top with a bevelled edge.
Attached to the body with set-neck construction is a Maple 3pc neck that has carbon fibre reinforcement rods making for an extremely secure and stable build.
The neck is an ultra-thin ‘C’ shape so it is extremely comfortable to play and features Schecter’s special ‘Ultra Access’ construction at the joint area. This means the neck has a deep pocket with an extremely small and slim heel allowing for incredibly easy access of the highest frets.
The fretboard is a dark Ebony and holds 24 X-Jumbo frets with stainless steel wiring. Stainless steel fret wiring provides a significantly improved, and smoother playing experience and compared to regular frets they’re nigh on indestructible – no matter how hard you play it’ll be a long, long time before you begin to see any wear in these frets.
At the 12th fret, a mother of pearl inlay with unique RavenDark imagery adds a further touch of Abbath and visual flair.
Hardcore Hardware
At the top of the neck you’ll find a Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut, keeping your strings tightly in tune and in place no matter how much you’re bending them.
The locking nut pairs perfectly with the Floyd Rose 1500 series bridge so you can crank the whammy bar and get all the awesome sound you need without worrying about your RavenDark Abbath signature guitar going out of tune mid-set.
Schecter have also equipped the RavenDark V FR Abbath signature guitar with Grover Rotomatic tuners. These rock solid machineheads are an upgraded version of the original Rotomatic tuners with improved, higher ratio gearing.
The new 18:1 ratio provides you with extremely fine tuning with greater stability. The finer gears used provide a much smoother tuning action a higher degree of backlash elimination. This new version of the Grover Rotomatic tuners uses the exact same housing as the original model but with all the modern, upgraded gearing inside.
The combined forces of this hardcore, heavy duty hardware means that you can play how you want to play; hard, fast and extreme, without worrying about a thing.
Extreme Electronics By EMG
In the bridge pickup position of the RavenDark, Schecter have installed an EMG 57 F humbucker style pickup. Designed for modern tones using a combination of Alnico V magnets and steele pole pieces, the EG 57 F has a great PAF quality to its tone. Lots of headroom and an aggressive punch gives this pickup unparalleled definition and presence.
Paired with the EMG 57, at the neck pickup position you will find the EMG 66 – a result of pickup design innovation inspired by specific needs of modern guitar players. Alnico V magnets are used again to provide smooth mid-range and expansive lows while ceramic police pieces offer clarity in the upper register.
To tame the tone of this beast, the RavenDark V FR Abbath guitar has a simple control interface; a Volume control, a Tone control and a three-way pickup selector switch. Metal Knurled knobs are your tools here.
