A Very Special ‘Addition’
Making its debut as a special edition kit in 2012, Birch/Walnut is back to provide an additional tonewood option to the legendary Saturn series. The Saturn Evolution Birch provides a louder and more cutting sound than its Maple counterpart. You’ll be sure to stand out with this stunning Exotic Azure Burst lacquer finish and the shallower tom sizes will make positioning your drums a dream while packing an articulate punch.

Modern Innovation Meets Classic Sound
This 4 piece configuration features a newly designed Birch/Walnut hybrid shell construction with a 7-Ply 6.15mm 10" rack tom and a 7-Ply 6.85mm 12" rack tom and 16" floor tom. The bass drum is thicker with an 9-ply 8.55mm shell.
The birch/walnut shell will ensure you cut through the mix with a clear and rich tone. Birch provides boosted high frequencies and a strong attack while being adored by sound engineers for its natural “pre-EQ” sound. The Walnut component brings a dark and dry undertone and when combined with Birch, produces fathomless low end! Whether you’re tuning up for jazz or needing thundering lows for Rock, the Saturn Evolution Birch/Walnut shell will provide the versatility you need!
All In The Details
The Saturn Evolution Series features Mapex’s Soniclear Bearing Edge for easy and stable tuning and their new Chamber Specific Design which introduces progressively thicker ply to the shells construction. This attention to detail creates a perfect sound and introduces a reliable and innovative addition to the immensely popular Saturn Series.
The toms are fitted with 2.3mm Sonic Saver Hoops and 2 vent holes for additional resonance control. The bass drum sports 4 vent holes and low-contact cushioned bass drum claws. The Saturn Evolution Series rack toms are all equipped with the new Halo Mounting System.
Halo Mounting System
The Saturn Evolution series introduces Mapex’s revolutionary Halo Mounting System. This lateral, under lug-line suspension system, offers ultimate shell resonance, allowing the shell maximum freedom and provides a pure and open tone by minimalizing the stiffness associated with conventional under hoop systems. The Halo also features an Adjustment knob that allows you to “pre-EQ” your drums by applying shell dampening, shortening the decay when tightened and a wide and full tone when eased off.
