Jazz Fest Reimagined
First introduced in the 1950s as the Buddy Rich Model Snare, the Ludwig Jazz Festival snare took on its first form in the 1960s.
When the Jazz Fest was used by Ringo Starr on the Ed Sullivan show with The Beatles it sky rocketed to success.
The Jazz Fest quickly became Ludwig's most popular wood snare drum of all time.
Offering a reimagining of the original classic snare, Ludwig unveiled the new version at NAMM 2019.

To truly understand the immense status of this legendary snare drum you need to look into its past success.
Though initially released in the 1950s, it wasn't until it was renamed as the Jazz Festival Snare in the 60s that this snare started to become popular.
Since then this snare has secured its place as one of the most prominent snares in the history of Ludwig's line up.
Part of it's staggering success has to be down to its use by Ringo Starr throughout his career.
After Ringo brought it to the attention of drummers worldwide, it's consistently been the go-to recording choice of many drummers thanks to its rich warm tone and vibrant resonance.
Legacy Mahogany
This Ludwig Jazz Fest snare features the same 5.5 inch depth as the original 1960s model as well as the same 3-ply legacy mahogany shell.
Constructed from a blend of mahogany and poplar, this snare has a central 1/8 inch poplar ply surrounded by inner and outer 1/16 inch plies of mahogany.
Characterised by its muted highs, smooth mid-range and warm rich lows, mahogany delivers a snare sound with a beautifully vibrant and resonant tone.
In addition, the poplar provides soft highs and mids blended with boosted warm lows for a sound that's smooth and even.
The balance of the two results in a snare drum with a lusciously warm low-end response that delivers a fat back beat.
Original and Best
Maintaining the vintage style of the snare, the 14 inch x 5.5 inch Jazz Fest features the same 8 lug configuration found on the original drum.
Featuring 8 twin lugs, a vintage '64 snare bed, 3 step baseball bat tone control and white inchœreso coat inch interior, this stunning snare has a vintage vibe throughout.
The '64 vintage snare bed is accurately centred and graduated to ensure the snare wires achieve the optimum level of contact with the snare side head for increased sensitivity.
The 3-step baseball bat tone control enables easy selection of the level of dampening required to ensure you always achieve the exact tone you want.
Providing 3 levels of adjustment, the tone control allows you to vary the contact of the internal dampener with the underside of the batter head.
Increased contact between the dampener and the snare head achieves the maximum amount of suppression, while reduced contact enables a more open tone.
The interior of the Jazz Fest snare also features a white inchœreso coat inch in keeping with the specifications of the 1960s original.

One of 4 premium finishes including Mod Orange, Black Galaxy and Vintage Black Oyster, this snare features a beautiful Vintage Blue Oyster wrap.
