The Ludwig Black Magic Chrome 14” x 5.5” Snare Drum features a black nickel over brass shell with all chrome hardware to deliver striking style and stunning sound.
Chrome Style, Brass Tone
Ludwig first pioneered their nickel over brass process in the early 1920s.
It’s safe to say they are the world leader when it comes to brass snare drums, having produced the likes of the legendary Black Beauty snare.
Offering a similar sound to the Black Beauty at a more accessible price point, the Black Magic snare is the ideal option for the more budget conscious drummer who’s looking for that classic Ludwig tone.
The Black Magic Chrome snare has the same nickel-plated brass shell as the standard Black Magic but instead features chrome hardware rather than black chrome fittings.

Black Brass
The Ludwig Black Magic snare features a beaded brass shell with a black nickel finish.
Characterised by its open sound across the highs, mids and lows, brass drums deliver a musically warm and vibrant tone.

Chrome on Black
There are only two differences between the standard Ludwig Black Magic and the Ludwig Black Magic Chrome.
The first is that all the hardware on the Black Magic Chrome is chrome and the second is that the Black Magic Chrome has triple flanged hoops instead of die-cast hoops.
The all black brass shell is perfectly contrasted by the classic chrome hardware to deliver a pop of light tone over the dark shell.
The tube lugs keep contact with the shell to a minimum to prevent interference with the drum resonance and the 2.3mm triple flanged hoops deliver versatile and reliable tuning.
