Crafting the JS1CR

The excellently crafted body is made from Alder for a tight low end and focused midrange. The body also features deep cutaways allowing for an unfettered reach of the highest frets - perfect for the virtuosic style playing of Satriani.

Attached to the body is a JS 3-piece Maple and Bubinga neck with a 25.5" scale length holding a classic Rosewood fretboard with beautiful Mother of Pearl dot inlay.

The Bubinga stripe visible down the back of the neck provides stability and enhanced sustain.

The frets are medium size and have been given the Prestige fret edge treatment to ensure incredible comfort and playability.

Honoring the world-renowned Joe Satriani Signature Series, Joe himself worked very closely with the Ibanez R&D team to develop an amazing finish that would be worthy of Joe's approval and the Chrome Boy name.

Every single JS1 Chrome Boy is put through stringent Ibanez quality control standards before dispatch but due to the unique nature of this striking chrome finish, minor imperfections may be expected and they just add to the individuality of your guitar.

Awesome Electronics with Sustainiac

For the neck pickup, Ibanez have installed a Sustainiac Driver. This works as an active neck pickup with a great active humbucker sound pickup but when you activate it using the push/pull pot you can play with three different octave settings for a huge range of incredible sounds.

In the bridge position, you'll find a new DiMarzio Satchur8 pickup delivering huge, great sounding tone.

A three-position switch allows you to select how you'd like to use the pickups.

With the tone pot switch pushed down, you can choose between using either of the pickups individually or a combination of the two.

With the tone pot switch pulled up, you'll be using the bridge pickup with the Sustainiac activated.

A high-pass filter is in use on the volume pots so you can maintain your high frequencies, even at low volumes, giving you more freedom to get the sound you want.

Joe's Favourite Hardware

Of course, complementing the Chrome Boy is a set of chrome hardware throughout.

For the bridge, of course, you will find Joe's favourite - the Edge Tremolo system.

Joe's favourite for feel and tone, the JS/Edge Tremolo bridge provides excellent sustain and perfect tonation and is supported by the Ultralite tremolo arm.
