With the rise in popularity of modern folk music and the "wandering troubador" in recent years, the classic Parlor-style guitar shape/size has seen a resurgence with guitarists the world over. These smaller bodied instruments are ideal for buskers, guitarists with a smaller frame, or situations where transporting a bulkier instrument would cause too much of an inconvenience, and now, thanks to Ibanez, they're available in a bass guitar equivalent!
Affordable Acoustic Bass with a handy, smaller body
Ibanez's AVNB1E-BV is new to 2018, and is a Parlor-style acoustic bass with a 12-fret neck join. Featuring a Solid Sitka Spruce top, Mahogany back and Sides, Brown Violin semi-gloss finish, smooth Mahogany neck, Ovangkol fretboard, Fishman Sonicore pickup, and a whole host of goodies, this bass would make a wonderful addition to any collection.
Smart Tonewood Choices
With Rosewood recently being named as endangered and being subject to a special CITES ruling, guitar-makers are turning to more sustainable alternatives in the construction of their instruments. On this acoustic bass, Ibanez have opted for Mahogany to compliment the Sitka Spruce top, and the pairing is a perfect match. Spruce's bright, vibrant voice is coloured with a rich array of harmonic overtones from the Mahogany, resulting in a well-balanced and (despite the smaller body) surprisingly well-projected voice.
Put simply: this bass would be perfect in a variety of live settings, whether you're rehearsing at home, busking, or playing in a well-amplified venue.

Featuring a superb Fishman Sonicore pickup, paired with an Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp, and the option of connecting your bass to an amplifier or directly into the mixing desk via XLR, your amplified sound will be as true as possible to the sound you produce when "unplugged".
