The Hagstrom Viking is widely acknowledged as the most versatile semi-hollow guitar currently available, offering a diverse range of tonal variations that cater to various musical genres. To further extend its versatility, Hagstrom developed a deep and resonant baritone version of the Viking.
Despite the common belief that baritone instruments are limited in their application, the Hagstrom Viking Baritone defies this stereotype. The guitar boasts two new pickups that were specifically designed for its lush acoustics, providing depth and nuance that results in a wide range of sonic colors.
In the bridge position, Hagstrom's latest Custom 58'C is a semi-open-coiled humbucker that enhances the Viking's natural ringing clarity, even in its lowest sub-registers. On the other hand, the neck position features Hagstrom's P-Urified pickup, a specially crafted full-humbucking-sized P90 pickup that adds warmth and openness while keeping lower frequencies tight and controlled.
The result is a tonal range that spans from clean and classic 1960s sounds to "Spaghetti Western" twang, overdriven crunch of the 1970s and 1980s, and finally, the "Über-Driven" tones demanded by today's players. All of these sounds are built on the foundation of the Viking Baritone's unique and deep acoustic voice.
