Hammered Brass Snare
The Gretsch Hammered Brass snare is part of the “Full Range” Snare drum series. This range does exactly what it says, it offers a full range of snare sounds that cover a wide variety of musical situations and styles. From steel and brass shells to rosewood, poplar, ash and maple there is something for everyone in Gretsch’s full range series.
Bold as Brass
The Gretsch Hammered Brass Snare has a warm sound to its tone. It has the cutting power typically associated with metal snares but balances this out with a dark complexity to its sound thanks to its brass construction. Brass is well known for its open response across all frequencies with a musically warm, vibrancy to its sound. Bridging the gap between wood and steel snares, this Gretsch brass snare combines the warmth of wooden snares with the cutting projection of metal drums.
Gretsch have also selected a 30-degree bearing edge to further accentuate the warmth of this brass snare.
Hammer It Home
Sticking with the classic recipe used in their brass snares, Gretsch have opted to apply a hammering pattern to the shell. This hammering serves to reduce overtones and unwanted ring that is often associated with brass snares. The result is a drum with a powerful, focused sound with great warmth and projection.
Not only does the hammered finish improve the tonal characteristics of this snare, it also creates a strong aesthetic.
Die-Cast Hoops
In addition to the hammering pattern of the shell, Gretsch have fitted this brass snare with die-cast hoops to further control the overtones and accentuate the robust look of the snare.
Chrome on Brass
The rugged hammered brass shell of this snare is perfectly complemented by the chrome hardware. Finished with chrome die-cast hoops and signature Gretsch double-ended lugs this snare has a consistently classy look. It also comes fitted with a fully adjustable strainer for easy adjustment of the snare response and has a fixed butt plate. The snare wires are 20 strand and the snare is topped off with Remo Drumheads.
The Gretsch Full Range Hammered Brass Snare is also available in a 14” x 5” size.
