Fender Custom Shop 1956 Stratocaster, Journeyman Relic, Aged Two Colour Sunburst, Maple Neck, 50s Fat Strat Pickups

One of the greatest, most popular electric guitars of all time, the Fender Stratocaster is a rock 'n' roll icon. Seen in the hands from artists as far back as Buddy Holly, right through to many of todays modern professional musicians, the Fender Strat has been a mainstay in contemporary music for more than 60 years, and it's only fitting that the Fender Custom Shop would celebrate this excellent guitar with a faithful recreation of those early instruments.

Fender Custom Shop '56 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic

Seen here is a Fender Custom Shop '56 Stratocaster that has been lovingly recreated by the legendary Fender Custom Shop team. Complete with a Journeyman Relic finish, this brilliant electric guitar has the look and feel of a decades old instrument that has been well loved.

Crafting an Incredible Recreation

Fender's luthiers have extensively researched the original 1956 Stratocaster model in order to deliver the most authentic recreation of this incredible guitar.

Ash has been used to craft the distinctive and unmistakable body shape of the '56 Stratocaster, with its signature double cutaways allowing for easy reach of the higher frets - perfect for those guitar solos. Maple has been used for the neck which has a nitro lacquer finish with the same relic treatment the rest of the guitar shows off.

Modelled directly on original '56 Stratocaster models, the neck dimensions are as accurate and authentic as possible, with that famous "V" neck shape favoured by the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Rolled edges on the 9.5" radius Maple fretboard give you an amazingly comfortable playing experience that allows your hand to just glide up and down the neck, while black Micarta dots are used as position markers.

Fender Custom Shop Fat '50s Stratocaster Pickups

Giving this '56 Stratocaster its incredible, unique and distinctive sound are a set of Fender Custom Shop Fat '50s Strat pickups. Found in each the bridge, middle and neck pickup positions these pickups give you the amazing 1950s Stratocaster sound that provided the music to some of the most well-loved songs in rock 'n' roll history.

Alnico 5 magnets are used to ensure enhanced dynamics with staggered, hand-bevelled pole pieces providing balanced output across the strings. Also, a hot-rodded wiring design is in place using formvar magnet wire to deliver improved bass response. Finishing the pickups off, period-correct cloth wire and fibre bobbins are used to further add that authentic '50s Strat vibe!

Giving you a wide range of sounds, the five-way pickup selector switch allows you to select how you'd like to use the SSS configuration with your choices of:

  • Bridge Pickup
  • Bridge and Middle Pickups
  • Middle Pickup
  • Middle and Neck Pickups
  • Neck Pickup

A set of controls in the form of Master Volume, Tone 1 (for the neck pickup) and Tone 2 (for the bridge/middle pickups) allow you to really tailor your sound to your exact liking. Due to this amazing versatility, the Fender Stratocaster has been a favourite for guitarists of many genres.

Authentic Hardware

Chrome/nickel plated hardware helps again to set the vintage tone of the Fender Custom Shop '56 Stratocaster. On the body of the Fender Custom Shop '56 Stratocaster Journeyman Relic, you'll find a 6-saddle American Vintage Synchronised Tremolo bridge. Each saddle is vintage accurate and easily adjustable, making it easy to maintain perfect intonation across the entire guitar, whilst the strings-through-body design of the bridge enhances your sustain so this '56 Stratocaster will really sing.

A vintage style Stratocaster tremolo arm means you can get that fantastic, retro-whammy sound in your music - a real staple of classic rock 'n' roll music.

At the headstock, you'll find vintage style tuning machines with the Fender logo, providing beautiful, accurate vintage aesthetics as well as precise and secure tuning of your strings.
