The Evans Onyx 13” Drum Head is a great way to add low-end response to your tom sound. Featuring a durable twin ply construction and a matte black asethetic.
Frosted Matte Black Drum Head
The Onyx series of drum heads lean towards the darker side of Evans’ tom batter head range.
Featuring a 2 ply construction of two 7.5mil films, these heads offer great durability as well as a robust sound. With lots of attack, controlled sustain and deep tone these heads are ideal for a wide variety of musical styles.
The Frost coating provides a matt black finish that not only looks great but also increases low-end response.
If you want a cutting tom sound with a big attack but don’t want a sustained ring, the Onyx range is ideal. Featuring lots of low-end tone without masses of sustain, these heads offer a big burst of deep tone that fades quickly.
Level 360 Technology
As with all Evans drum heads, the Onyx drumheads feature unique Level 360 Technology.
This technology means the rim of the drum head has a vertically enhanced collar which ensures balanced contact with the shell bearing edge. This results in a proper contact between the head and the shell, ensuring a consistent fit so that the head won't damage easily or lose tension. The drumhead rim also features a roll-over hoop designed to improve the strength and stability of the head without diminishing performance.
This technology ensures a more consistent head to shell contact that provides a wider range of tuning, better responsiveness and resonance, and a stronger, longer lasting head. What’s not to like?
