The Evans 24" Reso Retro Screen Bass Drum Head is made from a black mesh material. It allows air to flow through the head as if the front head were missing, while still providing a desirable aesthetic. If you want the sound of a reso-less bass drum, but don't like the way that looks, this is a great option for you.
Looks Like A Reso, Doesn't Sound Like One
The Evans 24" Reso Retro Screen head consists of a black mesh material. It has been designed to provide the appearance of a bass drum resonant head while allowing the sound of a bass drum with the front head removed.
The mesh material allows the air to escape through the resonant head as if it were removed, but offers a much tidier, professional aesthetic.
The 24" reso provides practically no sustain or tone, as you would expect. It's for when you like the sound but not the look of front-less bass drums.
