These days an awful lot of "new" effects pedals released try really hard to recreate the sound of something released 40 years ago that disappeared into obscurity because people stopped buying them. And then there's the Talons from EarthQuaker Devices, which instead tries and succeeds to stand out on its own as a badass, high gain overdrive the likes of which seem to be a rarity these days. And now this premium quality, hand made little device from Akron, Ohio (USA) is now available to buy from PMT!
Sculpt your Overdriven Tone to Perfection
The extremely versatile Talons grants you access to the full range of the gain spectrum, from a near transparent tone boost to ultra-heavy saturation and everything in between. Best of all it's incredibly simple and straightforward to use!
- Presence allows you full control over the top end and upper mids, letting you adjust the amount of "sizzle" in the dirt
- Gain is your preamp volume control, letting you set just how much dirt is available
- Level is your master volume control, and there's bags of it available! (so adjust accordingly)
- Then there's the 3-band EQ of Treble, Middle & Bass, letting you boost or cut each frequency range according to what you need
And that's it. Couldn't be more simple, and there are plenty of sweet spots to discover when adjusting each of the controls.

As with all pedals from EarthQuaker Devices, the Sea Machine takes a standard 9 volt DC power supply with negative centre barrel. We recommend that you use a pedal-specific, transformer isolated power adapter, as this will filter out any unwanted noise from unclean power signals. Do NOT run this device at higher votages than recommended. The current draw for the Talons is 5mA
