Extra Headroom
With all-new JFET OpAmps, and a massive, almost-10 megaohm input impedence, the circuitry in this pedal offers low noise, with incredible signal integrity, and plenty of high-end chime.
In addition to this, the typical 9v OpAmp input has been converted to +/-9v, for extra headroom! This gives you a more three-dimensional tone, with extra clarity, that's perfect for pushing your valves over the edge of breakup.
Three Different Clipping Options
In true Earthquaker fashion, the Plume isn't just another Overdrive pedal: it comes equipped with a 3-way toggle switch, situated just above the Tone control.
- Mode 1 - symmetrical clipping, and the crunchiest setting on the pedal. Classic "transparent" British valve tone when used on a clean channel, and outright filth with an alread-overdriven channel
- Mode 2 - a clean boost mode, with straight OpAmp drive. Ideal for pushing your clean tone out in front
- Mode 3 - an asymmetrical silicon diode arrangement, similar to the classic circuit which inspired it. Offers a warmer low-end response and lower output
Pin-Point Tone Control
In addition to this, Earthquaker have also improved upon how the Tone control operates. No need to worry though, as they haven't done anything too drastic to it, rather just made it useful through the whole range of sounds.
The low end of this control is both big and clear, whilst the high end is bright and cutting without killing the mids. In other words you get an ideal range of tonal variation, just enough to excited, without negatively affecting that familiar mid-heavy drive sound.
Flexi-Switching
In addition to all of this, the EarthQuaker Plumes comes equipped with the awesome Flexi-Switch Technology - a True Bypass switching style that allows the use of both Momentary and Latching style switching.
- For standard latching operation, tap the footswitch once to activate the effect and then tap again to bypass
- For momentary operation, hold the footswitch down for as long as you’d like to use the effect. Once you release the switch the effect will be bypassed
