The Akai MPC X is the most powerful MPC to date, embracing the concept of their hybrid software controllers and marrying it with classic MPC standalone workflow. Without the requirement for a connecting laptop or PC, the MPC X provides producers with a portable powerhouse or a versatile hub for their entire home studio.

Building on the success of the MPC Renaissance, MPC X is a step forward for Akai's world renowned studio controller and a new dawn for portable music production.

The Next Generation of Standalone

The latest incarnation of the legendary Akai MPC 'Music Production Centre' features a full color 10.1” multi-touch screen, 16 amazingly responsive, velocity- and pressure-sensitive RGB pads and 16 gigs of internal storage. At the heart of MPC X lies the powerful MPC 2.0 Software - all run inside-the-box.  MPC Software 2.0 can also be run from a Mac or PC as a plugin in all popular DAWs, or as a full-featured standalone application.

Audio track recording, improved time warp, enhanced Q-Link control, audio and MIDI drag and drop are all included on a new graphical interface.

Immersive Workflow

With older MPC designs, we were limited to a tiny pixel screen to trim audio files and navigate your sequences. A full-colour 10.1" touch screen now makes everything faster, more precise and intuitive. Instantly see where you are in your project, cut and chop samples in no time, and spend more time creating new musical ideas.

Many have come close, but nobody has quite captured the response of authentic MPC drum pads. The backlit-RGB pads feel every bit as responsive as the iconic MPC 2000, 2500 and 4000, but with the modern benefits of colour co-ordination! The same note repeat, quantize and swing parameters still feature - creating beats is a breeze on MPC X.

MPC X also features 16 Touch-capacitive Q-Links controls with OLED displays - a dream come true for trimming samples and tweaking parameters on the fly. 66 buttons provide direct access to all aspects of MPC Software 2.0. Navigate the on-board sequencer in no time at all, with a full transport control section to overdub and record as you play.

The Most Powerful MPC Ever

In terms of hardware, Akai MPC X has everything you need for it to serve as the central hub of your beatmaking studio.

Two combi XLR / 1/4" Jack inputs provide direct connectivity for recording microphones, with +48v Phantom Power support for studio condenser mics. A Stereo 1/4" Jack input is ideal for synths and other line level instruments, as well as an RCA Phono connection for direct turntable sampling. The joy of sampling vinyl is at the core of what made the classic MPC workflow legendary!

Onboard CV/Gate outputs enable the analog control of modular gear such as classic synths and drum machines. MIDI I/O and USB Inputs also make connection to MIDI Controllers and Keyboards super easy.

Pre-installed with 10 gigs of world-class sounds, The Vault 2.0 features samples and kits from top-notch sound design companies including Capsun Audio, MVP Loops, CR2 Records, as well as Akai's in-house content.

The Akai MPC X features a 2.5” SATA drive connector providing additional storage via installation of a fixed hard drive – SSD or HDD (sold separately). Additionally, your own custom sounds can be accessed and added to the library using the built-in SD Card slot or the USB thumb drive.

NEW MPC 2.2 Software

The MPC 2.2 desktop software can now be controlled by any external MIDI control surface such as keyboards and pad controllers, enabling hands-on control of MPC’s predefined parameters. Learn your MIDI controller’s physical controls to the MPC software’s Pads, Q-Links, Transport or other assignable parameters.

MPC ships with a range of factory MIDI maps for popular MIDI controllers.

When you’re running MPC 2.2 using the Akai MPC X, you can control external analogue synth gear using the X's built-in CV ports. This is great if you’re a producer who wants to use the MPC sequencer to control your favourite analog drum machines and synths. MPC 2.2 makes MPC X one of the best modular sequencers available today.
