Djembes

A djembe is a type of hand drum originating from West Africa, traditionally made from a wooden shell and covered with a goatskin head. It is played with the hands, and its sound is produced by striking different areas of the drumhead with various techniques:

- Bass: Played by hitting the centre of the drumhead with the palms, creating a deep, resonant sound.

- Tone: Produced by striking closer to the edge of the drumhead with the fingers, yielding a higher pitch.

- Slap: Achieved by striking the edge of the drumhead with the fingers in a sharp, quick motion, creating a bright, sharp sound. Traditional djembe playing involves a range of rhythms and patterns, often used in communal music-making and dance. 

To set up and adjust your Yamaha hi-hat stand:

- Assembly: Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to assemble the stand. Attach the base, centre tube, and pedal, ensuring all components are securely connected.

- Height Adjustment: Adjust the height of the stand by loosening the height adjustment screw and setting it to your preferred position. Tighten the screw to lock it in place.

- Tension Adjustment: Set the tension of the hi-hat cymbals by adjusting the tension rod or spring mechanism on the pedal. Experiment with different settings to find the tension that suits your playing style.
