Excellent Birmingham store service - Dave A****
I was greeted by a chap called Dave and i explained i was interested in buying another guitar, a Fender Stratocaster to be precise. I explained i wanted to try a few options and in particular i was attracted to flashy looking guitars. I selected several to play and Dave took me to a practice room where i spent a couple of hours playing different guitars. His knowledge was excellent and he was very patient. Dave listened to what i wanted as a musician and provided the right equipment when i needed it followed by advice on the differences between each one. I settled on a very good guitar and a couple of pedals. If you are going to buy from PMT, GO TO THE BIRMINGHAM STORE.

Overview

The Meinl Byzance 21 inch Transition Ride gives the drummer the perfect transition from articulate sticking to wide open crashing while never loosing the stick definition. Clear sticking and a present, but not overpowering, bell. Outstanding versatile ride cymbal. Living up to their name, these cymbals are extremely dry, with low-pitched, trashy sounds and short sustain. The raw unlathed surfaces and extensive hand hammering suggest that their sound might be loud and fierce. In reality, the Extra Dry series reveals its dark, earthy tones and comes to life when played at lower volumes.

New in Meinl’s Byzance Extra Dry Series, the 21” Transition Ride is Mike Johnston’s signature cymbal.

Both Mike’s and Meinl’s goal was to create a cymbal that can effortlessly transition from articulate sticking to a wide open and tonally fuller crash-ride function (and back) while never losing the stick definition. The result is a multi-puprose ride cymbal with a versatile sound.

The Transition ride has an unlathed and slightly polished top for clear sticking and a present but not overpowering bell. The bottom is lathed and polished to a brilliant finish which allows the ride to move through various dynamic levels with control over the degree of clarity and level of wash.
