Reasons to visit PMT Nottingham

Professional Music Technology in Nottingham aims to be not just the best music shop in Notts, but also the friendliest! PMT music stores are all about getting involved in the local music scene and meeting the bands and music students from Nottingham schools, colleges and universities. That’s why PMT stores host great, in-store events so everyone from beginners to pros can get the most from their musical instruments.

And it does help that we have the largest selection of contemporary instruments in Nottingham for you to try out!

Nottingham's Biggest Guitar Shop

PMT music shops are renowned for their huge selection of acoustic, bass and electric guitars from the world’s biggest guitar brands. Plus, the new Nottingham guitar shop is only 6 minutes’ walk away from Notts city centre – so you’re never too far from trying out your dream guitar.

PMT Nottingham’s guitar department will feature a trademark Fender ‘subway’ wall, which will feature over 700 electric Fender and Squier guitars. And if Stratocasters and Telecasters don’t tickle your tones, there is also a guitar wall entirely dedicated to Gibson and Epiphone guitars – the Gear of the Rock Gods!

Plus, we have plenty of PRS, Ibanez, Schecter, Yamaha, Gretsch, ESP and Jackson electric guitars in-store too, and our very own bass department that is dedicated entirely to 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8-stringed bass guitars.

Running through the centre of the electric and bass guitar walls is a channel of amplifiers, featuring a unique VOX display, an Orange booth filled with the latest Orange Amplifiers, plus plenty of backline from Marshall, Ashdown, Blackstar, TC Electronic, Peavey, Mesa Boogie, Gallien Krueger and Agulier.

PMT Nottingham also houses an acoustic suite, featuring two booths, one branded by Yamaha and the other by Taylor, where guitarists can try out acoustic guitars in a quiet, enclosed area so they can really hear and feel the tone of the guitar.

Accessories Galore

Make sure you head over to the D’Addario, Jim Dunlop and MXR accessory bar, bespoke to PMT Nottingham. The Notts music shop has all the strings you’d ever need for acoustic, electric and bass guitars, ukuleles and banjos, plus tons of capos, straps, guitar cases and cables too.

Drum Shop Nottingham

Head upstairs to the first floor of PMT Nottingham to be encompassed by a fully-fledged House of Drums department! The mezzanine of PMT Nottingham is truly a drummer’s delight, with an enormous installation of Yamaha and Mapex acoustic drum kits, a V-Drums Demo Centre for those wanting to try their chops on the latest electronic drum kits from Roland, and a single vault ‘Cave of Cymbals’, composed of major cymbal brands Zildjian, Sabian, Meinl and Paiste.

The Nottingham music shop also holds the first-ever dedicated drum booth in a PMT Store. The drum booth has been designed solely for drummers that want to try out an acoustic drum kit in a fully-functional, acoustically-treated area where they play as loud as they like, without any interference.

Nottingham Pro-Audio Specialists

On the ground floor under the mezzanine, you will step into a softly neon-lit, hi-tech world of pro-audio gear. Walk through the feature walls of synthesizers and keyboards from Roland, Yamaha and Nord, and make sure you check out the amazing Korg installation that is completely bespoke to PMT Nottingham too.

PMT Nottingham is the best place to find the right studio gear for you, whether you’re a student making music in halls or a professional music producer looking for new gear for your recording studio. This is all thanks to the brand-new monitor reference centre installed in-store, where you can test studio monitors, audio interfaces and headphones from Yamaha, Genelec, KRK, M-Audio, Sennheiser, Mackie, Shure, Universal Audio, Focusrite, RME and Beyerdynamic in a studio-style environment.

Nottingham PA & DJ Store

The Nottingham music shop really shows its support of live music in this area, which includes a stage devoted to PA speakers and systems! All PA is set-up and ready to demo so you can hear the latest public address systems from Yamaha, RCF, Bose, QSC, Wharfedale and more there and then, in-store.

And the PA department is not just a place to demo the latest PA: the stage will also host in-store clinics and live music performances too. To see the events line-up at PMT Stores, click here.

PMT Nottingham will also hold stock of the latest DJ gear from Pioneer, Numark, Novation, Native Instruments and Roland, so whether you’re itching to try out the latest turntables or wanting to see which mixers are best for your live performances, Nottingham has everything set up and ready for DJs to try gear in-store.
