In 1966, Yamaha introduce the Red Label acoustic guitar line.

This acclaimed series of Yamaha acoustic guitars is still sought after today because of the great craftsmanship, tone and playability these guitars boast.

With this new line of Red Label guitars, Yamaha bring you that classic style with vintage sound using modern guitar building techniques.

High Quality Woods

The Yamaha FGX3 is made with all solid wood for the top, back and sides. This gives you incredible sound that only improves with age.

One of the most popular top woods in acoustic guitar building, solid Sitka Spruce is used for the top of the Yamaha FGX3 Red Label electro-acoustic guitar.

Because of its rich midrange, strong low-frequency response and focused sound, Sitka Spruce is ideal for strumming and fingerstyle performance.

Solid Mahogany has been used for the back and sides, adding warmth to your tone and strengthening the midrange frequencies.

The African Mahogany neck features a semi gloss finish for easy playability with vintage looks and holds an Ebony fretboard with a smooth and incredibly durable playing surface.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement is a wood treatment method that is exclusive to Yamaha.

Using a combination of heat, humidity and atmospheric pressure, A.R.E. treatment dramatically speeds up the aging process of the guitar’s wood.

As a result, you get rich, vintage sounding tone so the Yamaha FGX3 sounds like a guitar you’ve been playing for years, right from the moment you first pick it up.

Atmosfeel Electronics

Allowing you to plug in the Yamaha FGX3 and take to the stage is Yamaha’s amazing new Atmosfeel 3-way pickup and preamp system.

Atmosfeel electronics use a combination of a piezo sensor in the bridge to capture low frequencies, a microphone for capturing the low and mid-range frequencies and a proprietary contact sensor pickup for the high frequencies.

With each of these elements optimised for the frequencies they’re intended to capture, you get full, natural sound.

A set of three user-friendly controls allow you to get great results, fast – a must when performing on stage.

The Microphone Blend dial allows you to adjust the mix between the microphone signal and the combined signals from the piezo and contact sensor.

A Bass Boost/Cut knob is also on hand, allowing you to control the peaking EQ so you can get the perfect sound you’re looking for.

Between the Microphone Blend and Bass Boost/Cut controls, you’ll easily be able to find the perfect sound to match any playing style.

Last but not least is the Line Out Volume Control which allows you to conveniently adjust the overall level of your output.

More Fantastic Features

Aside from the top quality woods, A.R.E. treatment and Atmosfeel electronics, the Yamaha FGX3 has a few more features that make this a fantastic dreadnought electro-acoustic guitar.

For the body shape, Yamaha have taken the traditional western style (or dreadnought) guitar and made it ever so slightly wider. While this difference is subtle, it imbues your tone with extra warmth which is great for that beautiful folk guitar sound.

Further enhancing the Yamaha FGX3 Red Label electro-acoustic guitar’s tone is a newly modified scalloped bracing pattern.

The bracing within the Yamaha FGX3 Red Label guitar’s body has been optimised to work well with the characteristics of the tone woods.

As a result, you get stronger, richer and more resonant tone that is perfectly suited to singer-songwriters and modern folk performance.

High Quality Hardware

The original style FG headstock is emblazoned with the iconic Yamaha “Tuning Fork” logo and a traditional truss rod cover that reads “Since 1966” paying tribute to the Yamaha FG series’ heritage.

Flanking these details are a set of six Gotoh open gear tuning machines, providing super secure and incredibly precise tuning of your strings.

An Ebony bridge can be found on the body, providing a fantastic transfer of vibration from your strings to the A.R.E treated Solid Sitka Spruce top.

Modern Techniques, Vintage Tone and Style

A combination of tradition, respect for heritage and cutting-edge guitar building techniques and electronics has a resulted in the Yamaha FGX3.

Coming to you in a hard gig bag, the Yamaha FGX3 electro-acoustic guitar is ready to hit the road and light up the stage as soon as it arrives.
