Taylor's Flagship Grand Auditorium
One of the best selling guitars available from Taylor, the Taylor 814ce is their flagship Grand Auditorium guitar which is Taylor's own signature shape.
With a size that is somewhere between a Dreadnought guitar and a Grand Concert, this Grand Auditorium guitar delivers the best of both worlds with great sound across the spectrum while being perfectly suited to both picking and strumming.
Crafting the 814ce
For the top of the 814ce, Taylor have used Sitka Spruce. Being strong yet flexible, Sitka Spruce is dynamic and delivers great tone and articulation making it extremely popular for guitar soundboards.
For the back and sides of the 814ce, Taylor have used Indian Rosewood. Traditional and very popular, Bob Taylor himself has said Indian Rosewood is one of the best tonewoods of all time.
The Taylor V-Class 814ce also features a beautifully shaped venetian cutaway in the body of the guitar, with its soft, round lines and sloping peak, providing an elegant aesthetic while allowing for easy reach of the higher frets.
New V-Class Bracing
New from Taylor is their ground-breaking new bracing design, known as V-Class bracing, which transforms the way the guitar's top vibrates and dramatically enhancing the sound.
Marking a huge departure from traditional X-bracing, V-Class bracing produces notes that are louder, more in tune with each other and with greater sustain.
Using V-Class bracing, the guitar's soundboard can be both incredible stiff and flexible at the same time, and results in increased volume and sustain while also improving intonation.
Expression System 2 Electronics
Using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design, the Expression System 2 beautifully captures the dynamic properties of the 814ce.
The revolutionary pickup design of the Taylor Expression System 2 delivers the latest in Taylor's continuing innovation in the world of acoustic guitar amplification.
One secret to the ES2's incredible performance is Taylor's patented behind-the-saddle pickup which features three separately positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors.
This unique placement and specific calibration allows for an increased capture of the dynamic range from the guitar.
Combined with Taylor's own custom-designed professional audio-grade preamp, you get an exceptional amplified tone with incredible response.
Whether you're playing on stage through a PA, plugged into an acoustic amplifier or recording directly onto a computer; the Expression System 2 truly delivers the voice of your Taylor guitar.
Giving you a great playing experience for your fretting hand is a Tropical Mahogany neck featuring a beautifully smooth satin finish and is attached to the body via sturdy scarf joint.
Atop the neck, offering an incredibly smooth playing experience is a West African Ebony fretboard holding 20 frets and great looking mother-of-pearl Element inlays.
A few visual tells denote the V-Class nature of this new version of the Taylor 814ce, such as the black graphite nut, a new label signed by master guitar builder Andy Powers, and a new inlay on the headstock but, of course, the most impressive difference is in the sound.
Better than Ever
Already one of Taylor's best selling guitars of all time, the Taylor 814ce returns as part of the 2018 V-Class series with improved tone, resonance and volume.
Coming to you in a deluxe hardshell case, the 814ce V-Class is the perfect addition to your collection, taking Taylor guitars a to a new level of performance.
