Taylor Quality Craftsmanship
The Taylor 114ce electro-acoustic guitar is the cut away edition of Taylor’s 100 Series Grand Auditorium guitar and is perfect for both flatpickers and strummers. Being a Grand Auditorium style guitar it works as a great all-around acoustic, responding well to strumming, flatpicking and fingerpicking.
Sitka Spruce has been used for the soundboard of the Taylor 114ce as it is renowned for its qualities as a tonewood. Combining strength and elasticity, this Sitka Spruce top offers a broad dynamic range with crisp articulation.
The back and sides of the Taylor 114ce have been crafted from layered Walnut. Having layered walnut used this way adds a great resilience to the body of the 114ce while looking great too. The Sitka Spruce top and Walnut body wood combination projects a beautiful sound that will only improve with age.
Taylor’s patented neck allows you to enjoy easy playability and extremely accurate intonation while the narrower nut measures in at 1-11/16” making for much easier chording; particularly in regards to barre chords.
Being a “ce” model, the Taylor 114ce features a Venetian Cutaway body design. This cutaway is known for its soft, rounded lines and allows for easier reach of the higher frets which is perfect lead guitar playing and adventurous arpeggios that reach the upper register.
Expression System 2 Electronics
Using a breakthrough behind-the-saddle design the Expression System 2 beautifully captures the dynamic properties of the 114ce.
The revolutionary pickup design of the Taylor Expression System 2 delivers the latest in Taylor’s continuing innovation in the world of acoustic guitar amplification.
One secret to the ES2’s incredible performance is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup which features three separately positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors.
This unique placement and specific calibration allows for an increased capture of the dynamic range from the guitar.
Combined with Taylor’s own custom-designed professional audio-grade preamp, you get an exceptional amplified tone with incredible response. Whether you’re playing on stage through a PA, plugged into an acoustic amplifier or recording directly onto a computer; the Expression System 2 truly delivers the voice of your Taylor guitar.
Extra Touches
For the bracing of the 114ce’s electro-acoustic, Taylor have incorporated a forward shifted pattern. This style of bracing allows more movement in the resonating Sitka Spruce top which results on a much louder acoustic guitar.
A durable Ebony fretboard allows for a smooth playing experience and great, articulate response and a Micarta saddle allows for optimum transfer of vibration from the strings into the resonating Sitka Spruce top of the Taylor 114ce.
For the nut of the Taylor 114ce has been used. As TUSQ is precision engineered under high heat and pressure it enhances the frequencies in the guitar strings allowing for maximum sustain, performing better than materials such as ivory and bone and far out performing plastic.
