Resonant Shells

Featuring a bass drum, a floor tom and two rack toms - each shell is meticulously crafted to the highest of standards, with the drum shells benefiting from walnuts renowned naturally EQ'd tone and long-term stability. Boasting a naturally warm, rich sound, it's the perfect choice of tonewood for long-lasting tonality and durability.

Complete with redesigned bearing edges for increased contact, the drum-head vibrations transfer more efficiently to the shell to provide a much quicker response time and a larger overall resonance.

In opposite respects, Tama have ensured minimum shell contact between hardware and the walnut drum casings - Including newly designed lugs, specifically for STAR drums, their extremely low mass construction ensures minimum contact. Joined similarly by the bass drum claw hooks, the connections 'float' on the surface of the hoops to help improve resonance.

Hard-Wearing Hardware

Crucial to a drums tone and ease-of-tuning, the STAR set features die-cast hoops on every drum - denser and more consistent in shape, they provide a crisper, snappier attack whilst maintaining plenty of power. They hold their tuning incredibly well compared to triple-flanged hoops - perfect for a full-bodied sound that won't stray over time.

Hold Tight Washers ensure that no tension is lost over time from continued use - with rubber rings helping to absorb impacts and keep the tension rods in constant contact with the hoops.

The innovative and fully patented Super Resonant Mounting System features a three-point contact with the drum shells in order to minimise vibrations between the drums and the hardware. Designed to provide maximum resonance and maintain all-natural aspects of the drum tone, the innovative mounting technique reduces stresses and strains through use of rubber isolators, to deliver the best possible sound, no matter how much you rock your kit.
