Ukuleles are one of the most fun and affordable stringed instruments you can play! They are also very easy to learn, and that's why they're great for beginners and children.
THE UK'S BEST SELECTION OF UKULELES
PMT Shops stock a wide range of the best Ukulele brands including Fender, Cordoba, Alvarez, Eastcoast, Yamaha plus many more. Each available to try before you buy in-store, with a host of suitable Uke Accessories like Straps, Stands and Strings available to buy from our friendly in-store experts.
Ukuleles are available in 4 different sizes, which consist of the Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone. Each Ukulele body type offers a slightly different level of playability and comfort.
Probably the most common Ukulele, the Soprano Uke features a traditional 'shallow curve' style body with a slightly shorter-than-average scale length. This gives the typical Soprano Uke a 'plinky' tone with bright, high pitched sounds available. A great choice for beginners just starting out, as it offers familiar tone and playability.
The Soprano Ukulele has a standard tuning of G/C/E/A.
A Concert ukulele is somewhere in the middle between a soprano and tenor as it provides the soft yet bright tones of a soprano but offers a little more depth, akin to the likes of a tenor. For players looking for a bit more projection and volume, the Concert Uke is a better choice over the Soprano. The scale is slightly longer which therefore allows for extra frets and extra spacing between them – ideal for adults and those with larger fingers.
The Concert uke has a standard tuning of G/C/E/A.
Slightly bigger than a Concert Uke, the Tenor offers a slightly warmer, richer sound that it's smaller cousins. In fact, thanks to its size and projection, it provides a sound more akin to the likes of a classical acoustic guitar. Comparable to a Classical Guitar in terms of playability, the Tenor Ukulele is suitable for beginners and players of all levels as well as those who just want more space on the neck.
The Tenor has a standard tuning of G/C/E/A.
The Baritone ukulele is the largest ukulele in the family, clocking in at around 3” (10cm) longer than a tenor and has wider frets with wider fret spacing. The body of a Baritone Uke is deeper, so the sound is more resonant, providing a richer sound with plenty of bass. You’ll find a baritone ukulele allows for an easier, shorter learning curve if you’re a transitioning guitar player.
The Baritone Ukulele usually has a tuning of D/G/B/E.

We also stock a small selection of Electro-Acoustic Ukuleles ideal for studio recording or live performance. Similarly to Electro Acoustic Guitars, these feature a 1/4" Jack output to connect to your mixing desk, PA or acoustic amp. Many Electric Ukuleles also feature a built-in tuner or EQ settings so you can tailor your tone to requirements.
A seriously cool example of an Electric Uke is the Epiphone Les Paul Outfit, available in Tobacco Burst and Heritage Cherry. These are modelled closely on the classic Les Paul guitars, but deliver all the sweet, light performance of a Tenor ukulele.
Electric Ukes are a great way to project your sound to the audience with ease.
