The Pearl Free Floating Brass 14” x 5” Snare Drum features a 1mm thick shell. It offers snappy, attacking, powerful tone and cutting projection ideal for live performance with a thick, chunky tone great for studio situations.
Brass Free Floating Snare
Pearl created their extremely popular free floating snare drum range to offer snares that are task-specific. They wanted to create a series of snare drums that speak differently depending on their shell type, size, weight and application, in order to create a bank of snares with each model fitting a specific task.
While the Phosphor Bronze Free Floater was made to produce a lower fundamental tone and the birch piccolo free floating snare was designed to offer bright, penetrating sound, the Pearl Brass Free Floating snare was made to work well in both studio and live situations.
Though the Pearl Brass Free Floating snare does provide cutting projection for live situations extremely well, it also offers controlled sustain for a great depth of tone ideal for studio applications.

100% Brass
The shell of this Pearl Free Floater snare is made from 1mm thick 100% brass.

Die Cast Hoops
The Pearl Brass Free Floating snare drum is fitted with die-cast hoops as standard. The Pearl MasterCast hoops offer a robust, super durability to withstand the hardest of cross sticks and to keep up with life on the road and in the studio.
The MasterCast die cast hoops also help to subdue the ring of the brass snare and to suppress unwanted overtones for a controlled sustain.
The result is a snare drum that has a warm ringing sustain that doesn’t become overpowering.
Free Floating Lugs
The design of Pearl’s Free Floating Snare drum is built around the well-designed free floating lugs and hoop frame.
The free floating lugs are designed to offer a strong, stable connection between the top die cast hoop, the free floating frame and the bottom hoop, without needing to touch the shell.
The result is a snare construction that has a shell unimpeded by lug contact or having to drill into the shell. This means the shell is able to vibrate, ring and resonant freely for truly uninhibited tonal projection.
Click-Lock Technology
The Pearl Free Floating Brass is fitted with the new SR160F snare strainer which features Pearl’s exclusive Click-Lock Technology that locks the snare lever and tension adjuster in place to retain your snare settings.
No matter how hard you hit, the Click-Lock will keep your settings in place to ensure a consistent snare sound from start to finish.
Set your snare wire sensitivity, Click-Lock the strainer into place and then forget about it knowing your tone will remain the same throughout your set or rehearsal.
Brushed Brass, Classy Chrome
The Pearl Free Floating Brass snare comes fitted with chrome hardware.
From the die-cast hoops to the free floating lugs, butt end and strainer, the chrome hardware perfectly accentuates the beautifully brushed brass shell.
