Orange Rockerverb 100 MkIII is a versatile amp head from Orange Amplification, seen here in the subtle and sleek black edition.
Twin Channel Valve Amp Head
Versatile Twin Chanel Design
The original release of the Orange Rockerverb amp head garnered a great following due to its iconic high gain tones. The MkIII edition has continued this tradition while coming in a new, extremely versatile design.
First there’s the ‘Dirty’ channel that can take your sound anywhere from classic British crunch all the way to the heaviest of modern distortion while always maintaining incredible clarity.
Next, you’ll find the non-master volume ‘Clean’ channel has been re-engineered to have more crisp and sparkly characteristics while giving you greater control through the use of a re-voiced two band EQ section.
Footswitchable Attenuator Control
Due to the Orange Rockerverb Attenuator circuit, you can get output stage saturation at ‘conversation volumes’. Located after the master volume controls, the Attenuator circuit determines how and when the amp distorts after the preamp stage.
This means that you’re able to reduce the overall volume level whilst keeping control over the amp’s output clipping characteristics.
Unlike what you’d expect from a conventional loadbox, the special design of the Orange Rockerverb 100 ensures that the relationship between the output transformer and the speaker remains intact meaning that even at extremely low volumes, the amp remains responsive.
By turning the Attenuator control clickwise you can reduce the overall output level (increasing the attenuation) and you can override it remotely via use of a footswitch for a volume boost on either channel; perfect for lead lines and solos.
Switchable Output Power, Spring Reverb and Valve Buffered FX Loop
By switching the amp’s output power, you get more control over the headroom and the output valves’ breakup. Reduction of the output results in increased output valve clipping and saturation at low volume levels.
The Orange Rockerverb 100H MKIII has a ‘half power’ mode which drops the plate voltage on the output valves, and a 2 or 4 valve selector switch giving you the option of 100, 70, 50 or 30 Watts.
The Spring Reverb of the Rockerverb, driven by a single 12AT7/Ecc81 valve and custom transformer, has seen significant upgrades in this MKIII edition. This results in an extremely rich sounding spring reverb with an intuitive and user friendly sweep, ranging from subtle air to full surf.
If you’re a lover of pedals but want to keep your signal pure, the Orange Rockerverb 100 MKIII has you covered. A highly transparent effects loop is buffered by a single 12AT7/Ecc81 ensuring you get an all-valve signal path all the way from input to output.
