As with all Mapex Mars drums, this tom shell features the SONIClear Bearing Edge.
This makes it so the drum head sits flatter and increases contact between the head and the shell.
As a result, you get stronger fundamental pitch and the drum is easier to tune.
SONIClear also increases resonance by maintaining vibration in the head and shell rather than let it transfer to the hardware.
Because of this you get stronger tone and better performance.
