Building the SR655E-ABS 5-String Bass
For the striking double cutaway body of the SR655E 5-string bass guitar, Ibanez have used Ash.
This wood offers incredible tonal clarity and superior attack while adding to the aesthetics of this beautiful bass thanks to its distinctive natural grain.
Attached to the body is a thin and sturdy 5-piece Jatoba and Walnut neck provides you with amazing playability while the extended neck joint provides easy upper fret access.
Nordstrand CND Pickups
Giving this 5-string bass its incredibly versatile tones is its PJ configuration pickups giving you the best of both Jazz bass and Precision bass sounds.
These CND, or Carey Nordstrand Designed pickups were personally designed by Carey Nordstrand himself.
Carey insisted on receiving the exact materials used in the manufacturing of these pickups and personally designed, wound and tested them in his workshop.
The end result is a set of pickups that give you huge tone that’s deep and wide and packs a lot of punch.
Versatile Electronics
Allowing you to get the most out of those Nordstrand CND pickups and really tinker with your tone, the Ibanez SR655E is fitted with some great electronics.
Bass Boost/Cut, Mid Boost/Cut and Treble Boost/Cut buttons allow you to emphasises or remove whatever aspect of your tone you’d like.
A three-way mid frequency selector is also on hand allowing you set the mid frequency at 250Hz, 450Hz or 700Hz. An EQ bypass switch allows you to instantly activate or bypass the EQ settings.
A balancer knob allows you to get the perfect mix between the pickups while a volume knob gives you control over the overall level of your output.
